Is This Your Year to Write A Book?
Join our 9-month, long-distance course for writers working on a book-length manuscript in any form: fiction, nonfiction, memoir, or poetry and story collections. We work by email and phone so you can take part wherever you are. Writers across the USA participate in this small and intimate group, plus English-speaking writers in the UK, Europe, Australia etc.
I teach Write to the Finish with author Sean Murphy, winner of the Hemingway Award for a First Novel, whose four fiction and nonfiction books are published by Bantam Dell, St Martin’s Press, and Hampton Roads.
The course includes 7 online seminar days over the 9 months, mentor coaching calls, craft lessons, and a full manuscript critique. Email me for dates, fee, a course outline, and details of how it works.

Why Join Write to the Finish?
Wherever you’re at with your manuscript, we support you with craft, community, focus, and feedback.
We hold your hand every step of the way to bring your book idea to reality.
Think you’re too busy? This course is for busy people! We aim to give you maximum support in the minimum time so you can live your life AND meet your dream of writing a book.
Write to the Finish is open to fiction or nonfiction writers who want to make progress on a book-length manuscript. The group ranges from writers starting a first draft with nothing more than an idea, to others with a work in progress – perhaps it’s not progressing fast enough or the writer is stuck! Some are working on revisions to a first draft, or (if you are interested in publishing and your project is ready) we help you prepare your submission to an agent or publisher.
We provide supportive, constructive feedback, including a full manuscript critique once your book draft is complete.
Nobody can write your book for you, but you don’t have to be alone.
We talk with you regularly over the duration of the course, with mentor calls and seminar days to help with specific issues on your manuscript. As award-winning writers, we share our knowledge of the creative process, writing craft, and the publishing business. We help you to stay on track with your writing goals, and you’ll be cheered on by a community of writers in our small group.
No prior experience with online groups is needed. As long as you have a phone and email, we will walk you through everything you need to know to participate.
Spaces are limited in this small group. Email me for dates, fee, a course outline, and details of how it works. Please add a few words about your manuscript project.
Previous participants said:
“At the start of Write to the Finish, I had only a vague notion that I’d like to write a novel. Nine months later, I had a finished draft of a manuscript that became The Wig In The Window, which will be published by HarperCollins Children’s in 2013. Sean and Tania not only are wise teachers and talented writers themselves, but they create a powerful sense of community to encourage aspiring writers when enthusiasm flags. If I hadn’t taken this course, I’d still be dreaming of maybe writing a novel one day. Now I’m embarking on a bona fide writing career.” Kristen Kittscher.
“I loved, loved this course. I learned a tremendous amount, was extremely productive, and took courageous chances that paid off. One of the best courses I’ve ever taken.”
“Tania and Sean are a great team: insightful, generous, funny and tough. This is one of the best workshops I’ve ever taken.”
“At the start, I had a hazy idea of what the book might cover. At the end, I had a 72,000 word first draft. The exercises, seminar weekends, advice from Sean and Tania, and support from the entire group, were the catalyst I needed. So thank you for helping me get there! I genuinely wouldn’t have done it without you.”
“This course far surpassed my highest expectations… organized to perfection and completely comprehensive. Tania and Sean provide a safe supportive environment for writers of all levels to work together, share ideas and help each other to grow. They are unbeatable. If you are looking for an extraordinary writing experience, you have come to the right place.”
“Tania and Sean make an amazing team and it’s wonderful to have both of their (sometimes different) perspectives on my work.”
“You set such a supportive, fun, yet down-to-business tone for the course, that I’m not at all surprised that so many of us achieved all we had set out to do.”
Literary Mama E-zine editor Jessica DeVoe Riley said, “I love Sean and Tania. They are so thorough in their writing guidance that I took their Write to the Finish course twice. They helped me finish my first novel and a nonfiction book proposal.” See her full Literary Mama review of Write to the Finish.
